Keys and limits
Keys are optional. Without one, limits apply per IP address; with one, per key. Create a free key with your Parky account.
Limits
YOUR KEYS ↗| Access | Per minute | Per day | Streams |
|---|---|---|---|
| No key | 30 | 1,000 | 2 |
| Free key | 120 | 20,000 | 10 |
| Partner key | 600 | 200,000 | 100 |
Days are UTC. Streams are WebSocket or Server-Sent Events connections open at once; each counts once against the per-minute limit when it connects. GET /v1 and the OpenAPI document are not rate limited.
Sending a key
Send it in either header:
Authorization: Bearer pk_live_…
X-Parky-Key: pk_live_…Browsers can’t set headers on a WebSocket or EventSource, so streams also accept ?key=. A free key in browser code is fine; it only raises limits. A malformed, unknown or revoked key gets a 401 invalid_key, never the keyless limits.
Rate-limit headers
Every response carries X-RateLimit-Limit, X-RateLimit-Remaining and X-RateLimit-Reset, the seconds until the window resets. Over the limit you get a 429 rate_limited with Retry-After in seconds.
Partner limits
For a partner key (600 a minute, 200,000 a day, 100 streams), email chase@parkypass.com with your site and expected traffic.
